Yiming Tang’s work explores the relationship between the individual and solitude, as well as a sense of detachment from everyday life. He believes that solitude is an eternal state within each individual—an inevitable wound, a challenge, and ultimately, a condition one must learn to live with.

His artistic expression emerges from moments of solitude, where he engages in a dialogue between himself and his surroundings. Through surreal oil painting techniques, he captures the vast emptiness and disoriented emotions that arise in isolation, as well as the introspective questioning of one’s existence.

By depicting familiar people and objects from daily life within bizarre yet richly detailed scenes, Yiming presents an honest visual representation of his perception of the world on a psychological and emotional level. His work emphasizes color, brushwork, and composition, creating a dynamic tension between logic and the illogical. Through the interplay of paint and brushstrokes, his paintings invite viewers to oscillate between pure emotional experience and intellectual contemplation.
